My love for the Paso Fino began in 1979 when my family relocated from Michigan to Winter Garden Florida. I was 13 years old. My father made good on his promise to replace my horse we had to leave in Michigan. I found a pasture only boarding stable within 2 miles of our home. The $20.00 a month board was very reasonable and I quickly lined up babysitting and yardwork jobs to cover my horse board and other expenses. My budget for finding a horse was $200. I eagerly opened up the Orlando Sentinal newspaper to the horse section. The first ad read:
$200 1/2 Tennesee Walker 1/2 Paso Fino Blue Roan Gelding 2 yr old unbroke call Coral xxx-xxxx
I called and made an appointment to see him. My father drove me on a beautiful spring day. Coral met us and called the horses to the barn. The herd came bounding up.
